THETA, the decentralized video delivery network, currently now sitting pretty at around the rank 10+ spot on CoinMarketCap, is one of those cryptocurrencies that are still just in its infancy(at only 2 years old), but already managed to bulldoze over hundreds of significantly older projects.
You might be holding a good chunk of THETA tokens. But as you may know, having great and successful cryptocurrency investments are pretty pointless if your funds are insecure, and could be potentially stolen sometime in the future. So if you’re a holder of THETA tokens and are looking for a security guide, you’ve come to the right place.

Storing your THETA through the THETA Wallet
- Head over to https://wallet.thetatoken.org/ Caution: make sure you’re accessing the correct website.
- Choose and enter a secure password, then click on Download Keystore.
- Download your THETA wallet’s keystore file, and save it to your device. Preferably, save it to a cloud service such as iCloud, Dropbox, or Google Drive.
- They will now display your 12-word mnemonic phrase. Click on Continue.
- Neatly and accurately write down the 12 words on a piece of paper, then click on Continue.
- Your wallet has now been generated.
Accessing your THETA wallet
- Head over to https://wallet.thetatoken.org/unlock/ Caution: make sure you’re accessing the correct website.
- On the Keystore tab, upload the Keystore file you’ve recently downloaded.
- Enter your wallet’s password.
- Click on Unlock Wallet.
- Click on the Receive option.
- Your THETA wallet’s address will then be displayed. You now can withdraw your funds from your exchange account.
Some pointers:
- Storing and accessing your funds on a web wallet isn’t recommended if you hold huge amounts of crypto. Using a hardware wallet such as the Ledger Nano X is heavily recommended. For more information concerning cryptocurrency wallets, click here

Installing the Ethereum app
- Connect your Ledger device to your computer
- Open the Ledger Live app on your computer, then click on the Manager option
- Allow the manager on your Ledger device
- On the app catalog, search in “Ethereum“, then click on the** Install** button
- A new Ethereum icon would then appear on your Ledger device
Accessing your THETA wallet
Unfortunately, THETA is currently natively unavailable on Ledger Live, so for now our only option is to access our Ledger THETA wallet through the official THETA wallet.
- Connect your Ledger device to your computer, then open the Ethereum application on your Ledger device
- Head over to https://wallet.thetatoken.org/unlock/cold-wallet
- Click on Ledger, then click on the Continue button.
- Your browser might then display a pop-up prompt concerning THETA and Ledger. Click on allow.
- Click on the Receive option.
- Your THETA wallet’s address will then be displayed. You now can withdraw your funds from your exchange account.
